According to CNN, U.S. authorities have prepared charges for the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. The charge is being led by CIA Director, Mike Pompeo. On Thursday, Pompeo called Assange a “fraud” and a “narcissist who has created nothing of value.” Projection, much?
President Trump, on record, said he “loves WikiLeaks”. However, this week, when questioned by AP whether he’s onboard to charge Assange, President Trump said “it’s OK with me”.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions says arresting Assange is now a “priority” for the U.S. Per CNN, U.S. investigators have seemingly found “proof” that WikiLeaks played an active role in helping Edward Snowden, NSA whistleblower, disclose caches of stolen and classified documents.
I say “seemingly” because even CNN, along with their lack of official or named sources for this story, seems hesitant to report it as “proof”…
Stories without sources are usually bullshit. It’s much too easy for mainstream media publications to report something whether it’s fact or not. It seems if it fits the anti-Trump narrative being pushed by the Establishment-backed media, it’ll air – facts or reality be damned.
Julian Assange has been holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for five years now. WikiLeaks existed long before the polarizing 2016 US election, founded in 2006 – ten years ago. Their leaks have been anything but partisan, hitting on Republicans and Democrats alike; with many of their leaks focused on worldwide events. Plainly, WikiLeaks have given U.S. citizens pertinent, valuable information about the government and their politicians – things that otherwise would have remained hidden.
Therefore, WikiLeaks is in the best interest of the public.
Is this what President Trump meant when he called to “drain the swamp”? Pursuing the leader of a whistle-blowing, journalistic organization that fights the same Establishment Trump posits to fight? If we see Julian Assange get captured and corralled into a cell while the corrupt Clinton dynasty walks free, there is no justice and the movement Trump pioneered and led is dead.
Again, with no sources, this story is potentially (and most likely) fake news. However, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be vigilant and alert for something to potentially happen. Julian Assange has fought for the freedom of information and, by extension – for us. Assange has given up his freedom and dedicated his life to exposing corruption, no matter the cost.
Thus, the time may be coming where it’s our turn to fight for him. After years of work and countless leaks, it’s the least we can do to not let him go silently and without a fight.
As always, President Trump – we’re watching and we’re holding you accountable.
